European Heritage Volunteers offers internship positions in heritage linked fields both in the organisation itself as well as in cooperation with partner organisations and institutions.

Usually, for the internship positions accommodation is provided by the organisation resp. institution offering the internship opportunity. A salary is not paid, but in most of the cases an allowance is paid. The amount of and the conditiomns for the allowance are differing from internship position to internship position. The intern has a clear defined working task and a person with heritage linked education responsible for the intern. After the internship a qualified certificate will be provided.

The internship usually lasts between four weeks and three months, in most of the cases there is a certain flexibility concerning the exact dates and the duration of the internship.

 

Some of the concrete internship positions are published below, but depending on the qualification and the interest of the potential intern other intership positions might be possible, too.

Internship 01 / 2018
Support of the realisation of European Heritage Volunteers Projects and European Heritage Volunteers Partner Projects

The intern will support the realisation of European Heritage Volunteer Projects and Partner Projects by supporting the leading team.

Depending on his / her interests and qualification the intern will either support the technical leader of the project or support as a leader or co-leader the intercultural and social aspects of the project.

Organisation: European Heritage Volunteers
Time frame: between June and September 2018
Duration: at least four weeks, in exceptional cases also less
Country: Germany and countries of the Partner Projects
Expected qualifications: no formal qualifications necessary
Language skills: English; knowledge of German resp. of the language of the country whre the Partner Project takes place welcome, but not mandatory
Special conditions:

  • If the intern had not participated before at a European Heritage Volunteers Project or Partner Project s/he will take part in the first project as ordinary participant to get familiar with European Heritage Volunteers Projects and to receive an introduction in his / her tasks.
  • The intern pays - as the other volunteers, too - the participation fee that covers a part of the costs for accommodation and food. The payment has to be undertaken by bank transfer.
  • For every two-week project for which the intern overtakes co-leading responsibility - usually from the second project on - s/he receives an allowance. The allowance consists of a basic allowance of 200 € and an additional allowance identic with the amount of the participation fee the intern has paid for the particular project and will be paid by bank transfer usually within three weeks after the particular project.
  • Travel costs from one project to another project in Germany will be completely reimbursed. Travel costs between a European Heritage Volunteers Project in Germany and a European Heritage Volunteers Partner Project in another country as well as between two European Heritage Volunteers Partner Projects will be partly reimbursed.
  • Food and accommodation will be provided for free in the frame of the projects.

 

Internship 02 / 2018
Photo and video documentation of European Heritage Volunteers Projects and Partner Projects

The intern will document by photo and / or video particular European Heritage Volunteers Projects and Partner Projects throughout Europe.

The photos should have professional quality and shall be used for the exhibition about European Heritage Volunteers Projects and Partner Projects in November 2018.

The video material should have professional quality and shall be used for the promotion of European Heritage Volunteers Projects and Partner Projects. From every visited project a final result of three to five minutes length is expected. Additionally, the raw material should be used for a later joint documentation of several European Heritage Volunteer Projects and Partner Projects.

Expected qualifications: no formal qualifications, but good knowledge and experience in photo and / or video necessary

Special conditions:

  • Travel costs between the projects will be reimbursed.
  • For every finalised and approved video of three to five minutes length an allowance of 200 € will be paid.
  • For every finalised and approved collection of photos about the project (at least 30 good quality photos about the site and 30 good quality photos about the volunteering project) an allowance of 100 € will be paid. 
  • Food and accommodation will be provided at the project places for free. For the days of the trips from one project to another the intern will receive an allowance of 8 € per day to cover the costs for food.

 

Internship 03 / 2018
Social Media Activities for the European Heritage Volunteers Projects and Partner Projects in the framework of the European Year of Cultural Heritage

The intern will distribute the European Heritage Volunteers Projects and Partner Projects in the framework of the European Year of Cultural Heritage through various Social Media.

S/he will manage the content of the Social Media chanels and will be responsible for the contentional, linguistic and aesthetic quality of the posts, photos and other contributions. S/he will be in close contact with the project coordinators, the group coordinators and the intern responsible for the photo and video documentation. S/he will visit the European Heritage Volunteers Projects taking place in Germany herself / himself, but not the European Heritage Volunteers Partner Projects in other countries.

Time frame: June till September 2018, extension till November 2018 possible
Place: Germany (Berlin, Thuringia or Saxony prefered, but not mandatory)
Expected qualifications: no formal qualifications necessary; good Social Media skills and - at least - basic heritage linked knowledge; good communication and networking skills 
Language skills: good English; German on native or good level welcome, but not mandatory
Special conditions:

  • The schedule is quite flexible and can be agreed in accordance to other duties of the intern and her / his availability. Regular access to and work in Social Media is necessary.
  • The participation at the Social Media Volunteers for Heritage Training Seminar in June is mandatory.
  • Three (June, July, August) one-day or two-day-meetings with the project coordinators and the group coordinators are mandatory.
  • The intern should visit six or seven European Heritage Volunteers Projects personally.
  • The intern will receive an allowance of 250 € per month.
  • Travel costs to the Training Seminar, the meetings and the projects will be reimbursed. During the project visits accommodation and food will be provided.

 

Internship 04 / 2018
Guest Guiding at the exhibition about volunteering for heritage in Weimar - first time slot

At Belvedere Castle Complex in Weimar a permanent exhibition about European Heritage Volunteers Projects in Europe as well as about UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers Projects worldwide is installed. The exhibition is complemented by videos presenting some of the Heritage Volunteers projects having taken place in Europe during the last years.

The intern will be at the place and available for the visitors of the exhibition, answering their questions concerning European Heritage Volunteers, UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers in general and the UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers project at Belvedere Park in particular. Own contribution concerning related topics as conservation, heritage management, garden architecture and similar is welcome. Beside that the volunteer will be involved in the current UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers Project in Weimar by providing guided tours for the participants, presenting heritage sites of its country of origin and similar.

Special conditions:

  • The intern will receive an allowance of 90 € for the whole time.
  • The intern will receive during the first four weeks of the project 7 € per day to buy his / her food on his / her own. During the last two weeks of the project s/he will to join the meals of the UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers Project.
  • Accommodation will be provided for the first four weeks in an own room in a flat shared with other interns; for the last two weeks the intern will be accommodated together with the participants of the UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers Project.

Special conditions:

  • During the first two weeks the intern will be an ordinary participant of the UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers Project, and from August, 12th, on work at the exhibition about volunteering for heritage.  
  • S/he will pay the participation fee of 75 € for the UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers Project. For the time from August, 12th, on s/he will receive an allowance of 75 €.
  • During the UNESCO World Heritage Volunteer project the intern will be accommodated together with the other volunteers and have meals together with the other volunteers. From August, 12th, on the intern will receive 7 € per day to buy his / her food on his / her own. 
  • For the first two weeks the intern will be accommodated together with the other participants of the UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers Project. From August, 12th, on accommodation will be provided in an own room in a flat shared with other interns.
  • On September, 9th, the intern will be involved in the activities in the framework fo the European Heritage Days.
