European Heritage Volunteers offers internship positions in heritage linked fields both in the organisation itself as well as in cooperation with partner organisations and institutions.

Usually, for the internship positions accommodation is provided by the organisation resp. institution offering the internship opportunity. A salary is not paid, but in most of the cases an allowance is paid. The amount of and the conditions for the allowance are differing from internship position to internship position. The intern has a clear defined working task and a person with heritage linked education responsible for the intern. After the internship a qualified certificate will be provided.

The internship usually lasts between four weeks and three months, in most of the cases there is a certain flexibility concerning the exact dates and the duration of the internship.

 

Internship 01 / 2021
Support of the realisation of European Heritage Volunteers Projects, European Heritage Volunteers Partner Projects and European Heritage Training Courses as Group Coordinator or as supporter of the Technical Instructors

The intern will support the realisation of European Heritage Volunteer Projects, European Heritage Partner Projects or European Heritage Training Courses by supporting the leading team.

Depending on his / her interests and qualification the intern will either being one of the Group Coordinators take care for the logistical, intercultural and social aspects of the projects, either support (only at some of the volunteering projects resp. training courses) the Technical Instructor(s).

Duration: up to four months, at least four weeks, in exceptional cases (f.e. in case of previous experience as Group Coordinator) also less
Country: countries where the volunteering projects resp. training courses take place
Expected qualifications: no formal qualifications needed
Language skills: English; knowledge of the language of the country where the volunteering project resp. the training course takes place welcome, but not mandatory
Special conditions:

  • The intern s/he shall take part at the Group Coordinators Training Seminar which will be held from July, 13th, to July, 17th, 2021 near Berlin / Germany. The participation is free of charge; accommodation and meals will be provided by European Heritage Volunteers. In exceptional cases, when a participation at the Group Coordinators Training Seminar will not be possible due to objective reasons, the intern shall take part in the first volunteering project resp. training course project as ordinary participant in order to get familiar with European Heritage Volunteers Programme and thus to receive an introduction in his / her tasks.
  • For the projects where s/he will be active as Group Coordinator or supporter of the Technical Instructor the intern does not pay a participation fee.
  • In addition, for every two-week volunteering project or training course for which the intern overtakes (co-)leading responsibility s/he receives an allowance of 200 € per volunteering project resp. training course; for shorter durations a proportionally lower amount. The allowance will be paid by bank transfer usually within four weeks after the internship.
  • Travel costs from the Group Coordinators Training Seminar to the first volunteering project resp. training course where the intern will work as Group Coordinator or supporter of the Technical Instructor will be - in case the volunteering project or training course takes place in Germany - completely reimbursed. The same counts for travel costs between two volunteering projects or training courses in Germany if the intern will be at both projects resp. courses active as Group Coordinator or supporter of the Technical Instructor. Travel costs between a volunteering project in Germany and a volunteering project or training course in another country as well as between two volunteering projects or training courses in different countries will be - in case that the intern will be active at both volunteering projects resp. training courses as Group Coordinator resp. supporter of the Technical Instructor - partly reimbursed. All reimbursements will be undertaken on the base of the cheapest reasonable travel variant. Travel costs to and from volunteering projects or training courses where the intern will be ordinary participant will not be reimbursed. Travel costs from the place of residence to the Group Coordinators Training Seminar resp. to the first volunteering project resp. training course as well as from the last volunteering project or training course to the place of residence will not be reimbursed.
  • Accommodation and food will be provided for free in the frame of the projects and training courses.
  • Accidence and liability insurance will be provided in all volunteering projects and training courses in Germany and Austria; in other countries there are regulations differing between the particular volunteering projects and training courses.
  • Please note, that due to the high request for the internship places, but also in order to enable the interns mentally to recover after having been active as Group Coordinator resp. supporter of the Technical Instructor the intern should usually alternate between one volunteering project resp. training course where s/he overtakes responsibility as Group Coordinator resp. supporter of the Technical Instructor and one volunteering project resp. training course in which s/he will be an ordinary participant. For volunteering projects and training courses where the intern will be ordinary participant the same - structural and financial - regulations count as for the other participants, but the internship certificate will include the whole duration, independently of the fact if the intern has been active in one or the other volunteering project resp. training course as Group Coordinator, as supporter of the Technical Instructor or has been an ordinary participant.      

 

 

Internship 02 / 2021
Photo and video documentation of European Heritage Volunteers Projects, European Heritage Volunteers Partner Projects and Training Courses

The intern will document by photo and / or video particular volunteering projects and training courses within the European Heritage Volunteers Programme throughout Europe.

The photos should have professional quality and shall be used from October 2021 onwards for the exhibition about the European Heritage Volunteers Programme.

The video material should have professional quality and shall be used for the promotion of European Heritage Volunteers Programme. From every visited project a final result of around seven minutes length is expected. The task will include either only the shooting, either shooting and post-production.

Special conditions:

  • Travel costs between the projects will be reimbursed.
  • For every finalised and approved video of seven minutes length an allowance of 300 € will be paid - 100 € for the shooting and 200 € for the post-production. 
  • For every finalised and approved collection of photos about the project (at least 30 good quality photos about the site and 30 good quality photos about the volunteering project resp. the training course) an allowance of 100 € will be paid. 
  • If the video and the photo shooting will be carried out by the same person, the allowance for the abovementioned video and photo material together will be 150 €, the allowance for the post-production remains at 200 €.

 

 

Internship 03 / 2021
Guest Guiding at the exhibition about volunteering for European cultural heritage in Weimar / Germany - first time slot

At Belvedere Castle Complex in Weimar a permanent exhibition about the European Heritage Volunteers Programme as well as about UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers Projects worldwide is installed. The exhibition is complemented by videos presenting some the volunteering projetcs and training courses having taken place the last years within the framework of the European Heritage Volunteers Programme.

The intern will be at the place and available for the visitors of the exhibition, answering their questions concerning the European Heritage Volunteers Programme and the UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers initiative in general as well as concerning the European Heritage Volunteers Project at the UNESCO World Heritage site "Classical Weimar" in particular. Own contribution concerning related topics as conservation, heritage management, garden architecture and similar is welcome. Beside that the volunteer will be involved in the current European Heritage Volunteers Project by providing guided tours for the participants, presenting heritage sites of its country of origin and similar.

The activities of the intern at the exhibition will start with the festive season opening of the parks and gardens of Weimar Classic Foundation on June, 5th, and 6th. The latter day is in addition celebrated in Germany as World Heritage Day.

  • During the first week the intern will join an introduction event decicated to international volunteering including the there offered meals.
  • The intern will receive from the second week of the project onwards 7 € per day to buy his / her food on his / her own.
  • Accommodation will be provided for the first week together with the participants of the mentioned event; from the second week onwards in an own room in a flat shared with other interns.
  • The intern will receive an allowance of 100 € for the whole duration of the internship.

  • During the first week the intern will take part at the European Heritage Volunteers Group Coordinators Training Seminar to get familiar with the European Heritage Volunteers Programme.  
  • From July, 19th, onwards till August, 28th, the intern will receive 7 € per day to buy his / her food on his / her own. For the last two weeks - during the European Heritage Volunteers Project at the World Heritage site "Classical Weimar" - the intern will have meals together with the other volunteers.
  • From July, 19th, onwards accommodation will be provided in an own room in a flat shared with other interns.
  • The intern will receive an allowance of 150 € for the whole duration of the internship.
